Vision Night
Campus Expansion Project

Frequently asked questions about our CX (campus expansion) plans.

Q I missed the Vision Night on April 26. How can I find out what was discussed?
A We strongly encourage you to access the vision night audio or video above. A limited number of CDs are also available at the Hub. For further details, pick up a booklet at the Hub or view the PDF. The booklet covers a lot more detail about our exciting short-term goals of campus expansion.Growing deeper and wider

Q What does it mean when you say we are called to grow deeper and wider?
A As individuals and as a church body we need to be strengthening our spiritual root system (growing deeper) through the Word of God and the accountability and encouragement of fellow Christians. But a tree grows roots in order to support a widening canopy, not just to be well grounded. Growing wider means using our resources to reach those who do not yet know Christ.

Q How will these plans alleviate the space problem in the children's ministry?
A The construction of a gymnasium at the West House will add a medium- and a large-group meeting area. Our Middle School students will be able to use this space on Sunday mornings, opening up more areas in the existing building for the children's ministry.
Work is already underway on the walking trail!
Q Why isn't taking care of the space issues part of Phase 1 if it is such a pressing problem?
A A number of factors have contributed to how we've prioritized the three phases. First, the recent completion of the 3rd floor Big Room has temporarily alleviated space pressures on the children's ministry. Secondly, we are beginning the permitting process for Phase 2 at the same time we are working on Phase 1, and will press on to permitting for Phase 3 immediately after that. Finally, we need to begin on the fields now in order for them to be ready for use by the community for fall sports.

Q Does this campus expansion plan mean that we are shifting away from the CARE Initiative?
A No. In fact, CX actually represents taking the CARE Initiative to our community. We believe we are called to grow spiritually and that people grow best in a relational environment. That is why we are pursuing ways to open our relational atmosphere to our community.

Q How much money do we need to complete these plans and are we going into debt to do it?
A We estimate that the three phases will cost $414,000. We are not going to use debt to fund this project. In fact, we have enough money in the building fund now to pay for Phase 1. We also anticipate that we will net approximately $170,000 from the sale of some donated real estate (please pray with us for the quick sale of this property). To make up the remainder, we will be taking a special offering on Sunday, June 8, for the CX project, and we ask that you begin praying now, asking God to tell you what amount you should give.

Q What is being asked of me and how can I be involved?
A We are asking everyone to do three things:

  • Pray - First and foremost we are asking everyone to pray. God is calling us to deepen our dependence on Him. We're asking you to commit to pray at least five days a week through the month of May (see daily guide in booklet).
  • Give - As we individually ask God for direction, together we will be best prepared to do our part in this God-given project. Seek God for what He is asking you to give of your time, skills and finances.
  • Utilize - Begin to dream now about how you, your CARE group and the entire church can use these new campus resources to fulfill our mission of glorifying God by leading seekers and believers to maturity in Christ.
